Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

The wife was craving Italian. As for the food at Silvano's, we thought it was just OK. There were 3 of us for dinner at 8 pm on Saturday. There was only 1 other table with people in the restaurant. Besides that, it was empty. Service was nice and attentive, but they never offered us any bread until we asked. Once we did, they brought a nice basket and replaced it with another after we ate it all. For our entrees, my wife and I had the lasagna bolognese special ($20). It wasn't a huge portion, but it was just big enough, and came with soup or salad. I had the tomato basil soup, which was very good. Wife and daughter had the salad which they thought was OK. My daughter got the fettucine alfredo ($19), which she liked. Nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding either. I guess I would go back...maybe for lunch, but would probably rather try and find something better around the area first.

We had chicken Parmesan, pasta bolognese and veal chop special. Bread is crusty whole wheat. Salads were large. Food was delicious. Service was prompt, efficient and courteous. It is nice to see a family run restaurant succeed. Italian food is always a pleaser.

Silvano's Ristorante Italiano is a small neighborhood restaurant just off Interstate 4 in suburban Orlando. Found through Restaurant.com , I have eaten here twice while attending classes in Altamonte Springs. In between an Indian restaurant and Wing House in a shopping center, you can drive by and not even notice the place. The service was friendly and professional, the wine list good, and the food is outstanding. Hot and delicious, Silvano personally cooks each meal from scratch. I'm not quite sure how he has done this seven nights a week for so many years. As for my dinner, I had the pasta bolognese and veal chop special. The veal was a tad bit overcooked but I didn't complain. The entrees come with soup or salad and bread. I ordered my salad with balsamic vinaigrette. It was fresh, crisp and the dressing was delicious. I skipped desert but had coffee. The remainder of my food went into a doggy bag for later that evening at the Embassy Suites. Using the restroom during dinner - I found it clean and fresh smelling. It appeared serviced regularly. A bit pricey for those on a budget but portions are generous and my $25 discount from Restaurant.com helped with the check. I would return to Silvano's Ristorante Italiano given the opportunity. /s/ William E. Lewis Jr., Davie, Fort Lauderdale, and Vero Beach, Florida

It was a good thing my restaurants.com gift certificate wasn't honored at a different place I was going to go to tonight. If it was, I never would have found this quaint, yet exceptionally delicious establishment!! First thing I noticed right off the bat was how small the place is from the outside. It's located in a tiny strip mall, tucked away in the corner. If you blink, you miss it. And that would be a huge mistake!!! Once I walked in, my initial reaction was "wow, this is a small place." Fellas, if you want to take your girl on an intimate date, this is the place. The dining room has 8 booths, 4 lining each wall. A few tables run down the middle of the dining room. The lighting is ambient and the easy listening music makes the diner feel relaxed and at ease. I was immediately greeted by a server as soon as I walked in. She was very nice and asked if I wanted a booth or a table. This was only the beginning of this pleasant experience! Water was immediately served upon sitting down. The server didn't take much time then to take the order. THE FOOD: Ok, this was the best, most authentic Italian food I've ever had at quite a reasonable price. I had the Minestrone soup and the Chicken parm. First, I learned that each order is made fresh. So I did wait a little while for the main course but it was worth it. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce was fantastic. Even the soup was just mouth watering and homemade. I ate every last bit on my plate, including 2 orders of garlic bread, which were also warmed perfectly and so soft and great for mopping up the rest of the sauce on my plate. I still had room left after dinner so I ordered tiramisu and a cup of coffee. The dessert was homemade and of course, it was just amazing. I really don't understand these other reviews claiming mediocre food. I highly suggest going here! The food is amazing and I will definitely be returning. The owner is from Italy and he really knows authentic Italian food. THE ATMOSPHERE: The setting is definitely intimate, but it's very relaxing. I felt very comfortable and peaceful sitting in the booth. The music wasn't too loud and you couldn't hear anyone else's conversation around you. The lighting made this experience as it was. And the center pieces on the tables were tasteful and added to the theme of a genuine dining experience. The tables were clean, the bathroom was clean, and the servers were friendly and their positive energy radiated greatly. CONCLUSION: I've been to many Italian restaurants in my day and this one by far ranks top 3. The food was perfect, the mood was pristine, and the staff was quite amicable. I would very much rate this place a 10/10 and recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic date idea or just a quiet dining experience with a loved one. This place has been in the same spot since July 12, 1994. It really doesn't surprise me that it's been around as long as it has. It'll definitely be around for 20 more years. And the best part? This isn't a chain or a franchise. This is a mom/pop place, which makes it all that much greater!

I love Silvano's! A true Italian cuisine, not like Olive Garden or Carrabas. Real Italian food. This is the classic mom and pop Italian eatery. The food is outstanding, prices are great. Everything is freshly made-meatballs, sausage are made in house and taste great. This is not fine dining, just good honest family style Italian food. Highly recommended. I don't have a "favorite" but the Chicken (or veal) Marsala is wonderful, the Cannelloni Florentine w/Alfredo sauce is excellent!!!!!

Pricey for what it is (50 for appetizer, fettuccine alfredo, and eggplant), mediocore quality.

We tried Silvano's because of Restaurant.com . It is a small, intmate, restaurant near TGI Fridays. We went during the week, and it was moderately busy. The service is very attentive and we did not want for anything long. The entrees come with soup or salad and bread. We each got salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was fresh, crisp and the dressing was delicious. I had the shrimp fra Diavolo, which the waiter warned me was spicy. "For the average person, maybe." I thought to myself. I assured him I could handle it and we proceeded with the order. My daughter ordered the fettuccine alfredo. My entree was very good. The sauce was not that spicy,( I have yet to have one that is actually spicy.) but it had good flavor. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, except they still had the tails on. I hate that. My daughter liked the alfredo, but thought the portion was small and it was not as good as Red Lobster. She did clean her plate, though. We did split their Kim's Cheesecake, which is the owner's wife's recipe. It was delicious. It had a flan-like taste to it. One of the best cheesecake's I have ever had. The place may be a tad overpriced, 2 entrees, an iced tea and one slice of 8.00 cheesecake, came to almost 54.00.

The real deal. Silvanos is hands-down one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. Nestled in a strip mall between an Indian place and Wing House in Altamonte, it is easy to miss, but trust me this is one you need to go and find. We have been going for a few years now and Silvano (yes, the owner is an adorable Italian chef named Silvano) never disappoints. It is a small, intimate, place that really makes you feel at home. The food does the same; they have all your favorites, plus a few extras that will blow your mind. Great date place, you've gotta try it!

I'm tragically disappointed with my experience tonight dining at Silvano's. We walked in & there was a table of 5 & a table of 3 already sat but waiting to order. My mother & I sat down & were given menus by the owner/host/chef. It was hot as hell & stuffy in the restaurant so when the waitress came over we begged her to have the AC turned on. She asked the owner & we felt the air click on. Thank God. Ok. She came back probably about 10 minutes later to take our order because she had to take the order of the other two tables first. Understandable. She took our order & then quickly brought our salads & some bread. After that, things went down hill. It took almost 40 minutes to get our food & once it arrived, oh no. We ordered our favorite, the veal parm & then veal Marsala both over angel hair, the parm with meat sauce, the Marsala with the same sauce. We figured it would be nice to try something else & share it. While waiting for our meal, another table of 3 came in & I believe it honestly paused our food from being made so their appetizers could come out. Listen, if you need an assistant in the kitchen, then so be it. I guess the owner/chef was trying to rush because when the food came out we were shocked to see the $23 veal Marsala literally with the tiniest veal cutlets over practically no pasta whatsoever. The sauce was pure liquid/alcohol & it was incredibly disappointing. The Marsala should have been cooked more so it reduced to a Demi-glaze not just a liquid wine sauce. The amount of pasta was seriously an insult. My most favorite veal parm was ok but it was not the same it has been during previous visits. The meat sauce on the Angel hair also was not the same as usual; it was loaded with herbs & the flavor was just simply off. Right as we were about to finish our meals, a table of 5 came in. AWESOME. Our plates were stacked at the end of the table & we were clearly ready to pay & the waitress took their order first, which literally took what seemed like forever. The decor is simple but everything about the restaurant is stuck in 1984 & I was ok with it when the food & service was great. The price of the veal went up since the last time & I understand prices go up on everything all the time but for a tiny meal of veal slopped onto a sloppy looking teeny portion of Angel hair with uncooked Marsala sauce...um, no. This will have been the last time we dined at Silvano's.

We ve been to Silvanos several times. I 'd to give this dinner a poor review. Had the chicken cacciatore. Very few vegtables and barely a half a cup of pasta. Seemed rushed. Service was great. Meal not so much. Definitely have to reconsider going back again. Especially with all the Italian restaurant competition.

I was in Orlando from out of town and looking to find a meet-up restaurant in the Altamonte Springs area which was halfway between where my FL family lived and where I was staying. I found Silvano's on Yelp and based on the reviews we chose to meet up there. Finding the place was a little tough - plan to turn in to the TGIF parking lot then head to the strip center in the back. The outside looked a bit sketchy and my family was wondering what place I had found.. "online". Boy - what a treat. While the service was a little bit slow, the food and prices were fantastic. We ordered (4 people) 2 of the chicken alfredo, 1 of the ravioli and 1 of the chicken parmesan and really enjoyed every bit of it. I normally can't finish chicken parmesan because it's so filling, but was surprised to find I had cleaned my plate. Everyone at our table thought the food was fantastic and we were all pleasantly surprised. There was a larger party there as well (dressed up) celebrating something, and no one wanted to leave. All in all - a definite surprise and fantastic food. If you are looking for a relaxed, casual (not stuffy!) environment and are ready to enjoy some good, down-home style Italian at reasonable prices - this is the place to go. Remember - don't judge it by the outside!!

This was the second time we had been to Silvano's and it was much better then the first. My grandparents and their friends love this place so when it was time to celebrate their anniversary Silvano's was a no-brainer. We fly in from Michigan to help celebrate and last year after all the hype we were sadly disappointed so this year when we knew we were going to eat here again we spent the whole day toying with the eating before hand and just having something small to share as to not hurt any ones feelings. Let me say that in the end I put the nix on eating before and boy are we glad I did! After reviewing the menu for 10mins I finally decided on chicken over fettuccine with a Gorgonzola cream sauce; the chicken was cooked very nicely and after I added a few extra Gorgonzola crumbles (personal preference) it was absolutely amazing, my mom got the same and we both practically licked our plates clean. 5 of the guests around us all wanted the pork chop special, here is where we ran into downfall number 1...it was 6:45 and they were completely our of pork chops!! Not only was the special pork chops but they also have a pork chop dish on their regular menu, we were pretty disappointing seeing as how they knew ahead of time that they had a party of 20 coming in and didn't properly stock or 86 the special. However, all 5 people reluctantly ordered something else and were all EXTREMELY pleased with their new choices. There was a veal Marsala and a chicken with veggies substituted that were both very well received. After dinner we had dessert which was a house made sponge cake with coconut custard filling, downfall number 2, one of the 4 layers of cake was completely BURNT on the bottom, the custard was a bit thick/rubbery for my liking but the flavor was decent and the cake itself seemed like it had been brushed with an almond liquor; not bad. My mom ordered a piece of cheesecake which should have been mixed another 2-4 mins to achieve a real silky cheesecake texture so the mouth feeling was gritty and unappealing but flavor was good. Over all I'll give Silvano's 4 stars based on the fact that the food was 100% better then the last time we were there (I'm a trained pastry chef with really high expectations so I leave my dessert assessment out of the overall scoring), my wine glass was never empty for longer than 1 minute, and the atmosphere makes for a cozy large family get together. I was very please and at this moment can't wait till the next time we get to enjoy the local Florida Italian.

Ok food, dishonest business practices. They participate in the restaurant.com program where you can buy $25 certificates for $10 and have to spend at least $50. Ok cool, right? So I planned to go here for Valentine's Day and save the net $15 because it's always nice to save a little, right? Even ordered more than we normally would knowing that we were getting a good deal. Then they wouldn't take the certificate because it was a holiday. I looked all over the restaurant.com site and this holiday policy is no where. I read all of the fine print on the certificate before purchasing and this policy is not there. What gives Silvano's? Why not make this policy clear on restaurant.com Won't be back, will trade in the certificate I still have for one to a more honest restaurant.

Unbelievable! The quality of the in house made ingredients can't be beat! Service is amazing too!!

Service was good. I had spaghetti and meatballs and it was horrible ,the pasta was chewy and the meatballs were small and tasted like the frozen ones. And I thought it was a bit over priced.
